CSN Students Volunteer to Serve Veterans through Summertime
CSN Students Volunteer to Serve Veterans through Summertime
On June 13th Collier County Honor Flight hosted a “meet and greet” for guardians to meet the veterans they would care for on Mission 6 to Washington D.C. Ms. Jimmi Cornforth was one of the guardians who had the privilege to meet Ray Arcella, the hero she would escort on Mission 6.
Maxine and Zack Danni, Danielle and Brooke Jaffe, John Neumann, Emma Jaromin, Ashly Cruz and Abby Ciabaton volunteered to serve veterans and guardians and socialize them as they planned for their upcoming trip. Graham Hunter from NBC2 was present at the “meet and greet” and also traveled with the group to D.C. On the 4th of July his story will air and some of these students will likely be featured. Tune in!
Veterans Visit War Memorials
CSN's Veteran Appreciation Club Assist Veterans Touring World War II Memorials
On June 20th Honor Flight toured the World War II and Korean Memorials, the Vietnam wall, the Iwo Jima Marine Corps memorial, and Arlington National Cemetery. One of the highlights was when Ray met Senator Bob Dole. The day was filled with praise and gratitude from strangers as they cheered for the veterans, shook their hands an thanked them for their service.
CSN students from the Veteran Appreciation Club took part in both the “send-off” the morning of the trip and the “welcome home” afterwards. Emma Jaromin and her family were there in the morning and John Neumann and Henry Yun were there at midnight as we returned.
Two CSN Teens Helping Others Get in the Game!
Two CSN Teens Helping Others Get in the Game!
Last spring Tyson Chur and Robert DeVito got together in an effort to collect used sporting equipment and attires to help others who could give these items a second life.
By May Chur and DeVito collected roughly 250 sporting items such as lacrosse sticks, golf clubs, sneakers, cleats, balls, mitts, pads, bats, helmets and sports attire, ready to be distributed. Cindy Darland, the executive director of First Tee in Naples, welcomed bags of golf clubs for students in her program.
The spirit of community service that these two CSN students have displayed makes the CSN community extremely proud.

CSN Upper School Students Excel in AP Exams!
CSN Upper School Students Excel in AP Exams
We are proud to announce that, out of 238 CSN Upper School students who took a total of 593 AP exams this past year, a record 84.5% received a passing grade. This is the highest it has been in atleast five years. Overall, CSN students who took these exams outperformed the Florida and global averages.
According to the College Board, just taking one or more AP classes sets students apart in the highly competitive college admissions process and builds skills needed to succeed in following a rigorous curriculum. These goals closely match CSN’s mission as a college preparatory school.

CSN Students Recognized for Excellence in Achievement at MAO National Convention
During the week of July 19, six CSN students traveled to Salt Lake City to attend the annual Mu Alpha Theta National Convention. The convention consisted of many individual and group math competitions as well as a variety of lectures involving advanced math topics. Andrew Lang- Youth Ambassador Making a Difference
Andrew Lang is a living proof that to make a difference one has to be a certain age. He was diagnosed with type one diabetes at age 12 and after he bravely overcame the fear he took his father's wisdom that “God only chooses his strongest warriors to fight the strongest battles.”
Today, Andrew has become a warrior in it's truest sense. He was chosen as a speaker to educate his classmates at The Community School of Naples about Juvenile Diabetes and JDRF. Andrew clarified to his fellow students that Type 1 Diabetes is not contagious and you do not become seseptible to being diagnosed as a result of eating too much sugar.

Katherine Shipers a Budding Humanitarian
Katherine Shipers a Budding Humanitarian
CSN senior Katherine Shipers has always shown a spirit of giving far beyond her years, especially beginning in her junior year. That’s when she created “Kat’s Packs for Kids,” assembling packages containing a coloring book, colored pencils, and stickers destined for children in distress. The Naples Police Department used them to distract children who had to be removed from unstable situations, and last fall they commended her with a Do the Right Thing Award. The Shelter for Abused Women and Children was grateful to have them to keep a child’s minds and hands occupied while their parent meets with shelter staff.
So far Kat has donated over 4,100 packs to these Naples organizations as well as to shelters and police departments in New Jersey. There she was acknowledged with proclamations for her passion for putting a ray of sunshine in a child's life. She has already raised over $14,000 in contributions generated from Gofundme.com and word of mouth. She has been interviewed by Channel 12 News, and had articles in The New Jersey Coast Star, the Naples News and eBella magazine. Dr. Watson said, “I am deeply impressed with Kat’s outstanding charitable work. She shines a spotlight on the needs of those less fortunate children, and has demonstrated an ability to actually make a difference.” Kat will be restarting her Kat's Packs program in Naples this fall, and anticipates being able to continue her project wherever her college studies take her.
